WHAT IS MRI?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, called, for short, MRI, is a high-performance and modern investigation that provides accurate information compared to other traditional investigations.

It is a fine investigation that brings a decisive addition to clarify some diagnoses, to guide the surgical approach, to monitor some treatments or post-treatment, whether we are talking about the breast, gynecological pathology, neurological or neurosurgical pathology, fetal MRI or whole-body imaging screening.

Such a 3Tesla MRI Performance Center is the first in the Republic of Moldova in a public medical institution that operates non-stop (24/24, 7 days a week), offering unlimited access of patients to high quality investigations.

The MRI Center at the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery “Diomid Gherman” was endowed with a high field magnetic resonance system Siemens Magnetom Trio.

This MRI system offers a unique 3 Tesla platform to deal with the most effective MRI research protocols today.

Thanks to this machine it is possible to visualize tissues and organs with a wide range of methods: Non-contrast Magnetic Resonance Angiography, Dynamic Angiography with 4D contrast, Non-contrast brain perfusion (ASL, arterial spin labeling), Cerebral and spinal tractography (DTI, diffusion tensor imaging), etc.

Our patients receive the most detailed images of the investigation, of a much better quality than they can get with 1.5 Tesla MRI systems.

Due to the absence of the risk of ionizing radiation, Magnetic Resonance Imaging is harmless and can be performed repeatedly whenever necessary, without endangering life and health, including children, pregnant women or breastfeeding women.

The prices of the investigations performed at the our MRI Center are the lowest in the Republic of Moldova for 3 Tesla and are offered at the level of 1.5 Tesla investigations.

Personal account and login

The user account for the personal cabinet is created automatically at the first registration in the information system of our center. The password is automatically sent to the email address you specified. After uploading the examination report into our information system, you and the doctor who referred you to the investigation will receive an email notification with the investigation report attached.

Access your personal account by clicking HERE or through the Personal Cabinet: LOGIN menu.

Personal cabinet structure

The personal cabinet contains information about all the investigations and medical reports related to them that you have carried out at our center.
The following options are available:
– online viewing of the investigation;
– view the investigation report;
– visualization of the medical reference to the investigation (in case you presented one);
– share access to the investigation for 24 hours.

View the investigation online

After completing the investigation at the center, you must have Java installed to view the procedure on your home computer, laptop, or MacBook.
If you don’t have it: select and install the appropriate Java package for your operating system here: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
After clicking on the icon to view the procedure, depending on the speed of your internet connection, the information will be available on your device in 4-8 minutes. After downloading, you’ll see something like in the image below:

NOTE: At this stage of system development, the ability to view online procedures on smartphones, iPhones, and tablets has not been introduced.

How the option share access for 24 hours works

For your convenience, there is the option to provide access to any physician via email for online consultations, without the need to send the investigation disc or report. The doctor will have access to information for 24 hours. Warn in advance of the need to have Java on the device from which is intended to view the procedure: laptop, desktop or MacBook.

IMPORTANT: If you need to share multiple procedures, you must send an invitation to view each procedure separately.

MRI investigation: patient guide

Pre-investigation preparation

Only for abdominal and pelvic investigations you will not eat 4 hours before the investigation.
If you have allergies (which can trigger anaphylactic shock, glottic edema) it is mandatory to consult the allergist before conducting the investigation.
If you are on medication, it can still be given.
It is necessary to show up at the appointment 20 minutes before the time set for the investigation.

If you request or need sedation, you will follow the protocol:

Fasting 5-6 hours.
You will not consume liquids before for at least 2 hours.
You will report to the MRI center at NNI 40 minutes before the examination.

Documents required at the time of the investigation

Identity card (passport).
Written, initialed and signed recommendation by the doctor. In the absence of a doctor’s recommendation, notify the center staff in advance to clarify the necessary investigation or schedule a consultation with a physician at the MRI center at the INN before the examination.
For ferromagnetic metal implants (valve prostheses, pacemakers, surgical clips, etc.) it is necessary to present documents attesting the compatibility of prostheses with MRI

What to expect during the investigation

The Magnetom Trio 3Tesla has the shape of a circle, with a narrow table in the middle. During the investigation the mass moves through the center of this circle. The scanner is open at both ends, the feeling of claustrophobia being unlikely.
MRI center staff will not be with you in the room, but will be able to see and communicate with you. During the scan you will hear small noises and the table on which you are positioned will move slowly.
For the administration of the contrast substance it is necessary to mount a branula through which the contrast substance will be injected into the bloodstream. For a few seconds you can have the sensation of metallic taste or smell, the sensation of urination and heat throughout the body.

Post-investigation

It is recommended to drink 2 liters of water to help eliminate the contrast substance from the body.
In the case of breastfeeding women, breastfeeding should be stopped 24 hours after the contrast agent investigation.

Result

The result in digital format on CD will be available on the same day. The staff at the center will communicate to you at the end of the investigation the date of issuing the medical report written in Romanian (interpretation) or you will receive it electronically for online scheduling cases or if you leave us your e-mail address. In some situations the medical report may be delayed and released in a maximum of 3 working days.

HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

There are two options for making an appointment at the MRI Center at INN:
By telephone contact at +373 22 80 80 20
Fill in the form by pressing the button MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, either from the SERVICES AND PRICES section or from the top-right corner on the desktop versions or from the menu of the mobile version of this site.

To complete the form, you will be asked for your personal e-mail address where we will send you the relevant information about the procedure, the exact time of the appointment. Finally, we will send you the medical report (interpretation) to relieve you of the need for repeated presentation at our center and not further subject you to the risk of COVID-19 infection and provide you with information in digital format. At the same time, we will automatically send your investigation results to your referral or GP doctor to give you the option of remote consultation and speed up the diagnosis process to provide you with the necessary treatment.

The required fields of the form are: Name and Surname, e-mail address, contact telephone number, the date you want and the desired interval for the selected day and information about what type of investigation is required in the Referral from the Doctor uploaded on request or as an image either as a .pdf file extension.
